Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro

Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently honored Lancaster native Daniel Mertzlufft for his success in the music industry. Mertzlufft is a 2015 summa cum laude double major graduate from the State University of New York at Potsdam Crane School of Music and has been composing music since he was a young child.

Mertzlufft is currently working as a Music Associate at iTheatrics in New York City where he directs and edits musical scores and makes them more accessible to young students.  Mertzlufft recently did the orchestration for a piece of music performed by the Sydney Opera House in Australia. He is also the arranger of the viral video “Remy the Ratatouille” and “Grocery Store: The Musical.”

Mertzlufft has also taken the internet by storm with several musical TikTok videos which landed him on The Late, Late Show with James Corden and received national press in Entertainment Weekly, BuzzFeed News, Rolling Stone, Good Morning America and more.

Legislator Todaro said, “Congratulations to Lancaster native Daniel Mertzluff! Your talents and musical abilities have clearly not gone unnoticed. Keep up the good work and just know how proud we all are of you right here in Western New York! I look forward to hearing more catchy tunes from you in the near future!”
