Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently participated in FeedMore Western New York’s ‘Champions for Meals’ week.
During Champions for Meals week, local government officials participate in drop-offs to meet Meals on Wheels clients and help encourage community members to become volunteers for the program. In 2020, FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program provided approximately 1.4 million meals to homebound neighbors.
Tara A. Ellis, President and CEO of FeedMore WNY said, “FeedMore WNY is deeply grateful for the members of the Erie County Legislature and for all of our wonderful participants who volunteered for our Champions for Meals event. Their partnership helps raise awareness for our Meals on Wheels program, which provides nutritious food and companionship to our homebound neighbors in need. More than 3,600 new individuals have signed up for our Meals on Wheels program since March 2020. FeedMore WNY remains in need of the community’s support to continue our mission, and we encourage individuals and organizations to sign up to volunteer for our Meals on Wheels program.”
Legislator Todaro said, “What an honor it was to participate in FeedMore Western New York’s Champions for Meals week. Meals on Wheels helps a countless number of our neighbors who need it the most—and not just with meals. These drop-offs also serve as wellness checks to make sure everything is A-OK. If you are looking for an organization to volunteer your time with, I strongly encourage you to check out the different programs FeedMore has to offer.”
