Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently proclaimed January 2021 as Soup-Fest Month in Erie County to encourage the community to support local restaurants during these trying times. Legislator Todaro along with Matt Carlucci, president of the Buffalo Soup Fest, visited West Alden Kitchen and Countryside Inn to try several of their soups.
Buffalo Soup Fest is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021; however, COVID-19 has forced organizers to go virtual. They are encouraging the Western New York Community to do takeout and delivery from their favorite soup restaurants during the month of January. Participants can then vote through social media for their favorite soups using the hashtag #BuffSoupMonth.
Every restaurant is eligible to participate in the event. There are 20 award categories including: best spicy, best chowder, best veggie, best meat and most comforting type of soup.
Legislator Todaro said, “I encourage every restaurant in my district to participate! It is free to enter and you have a chance to win a coveted plaque and, most importantly, bragging rights! I stronglyencourage every resident in my district to participate in the event. It is a win-win situation; you get to eat delicious and comforting soup, while restaurants benefit from the increase in revenue.”
