Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro wants to remind residents in his district that emergency funds are still available from Erie County for both mortgage/rent relief and childcare assistance.

Erie County is designating part of its CARES Act funding to help support local parents and care givers. The county is setting aside up to $4 million for direct support to childcare providers. $10 million will go into expanding the childcare subsidy to include families earning up to 85 percent of the New York State median income.

The Live Well Erie Emergency Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program will provide a grant of up to $1,500 per month to cover the monthly rent or mortgage, with a maximum of $3,500 per household. The rent subsidy will be paid directly to the tenant’s landlord and the mortgage subsidy will be paid directly to the mortgage holder. The funding will cover up to five months of rent or mortgage for eligible applicants.

Legislator Todaro said, “This funding is crucial and it is not too late to apply. If you are struggling to balance work and parenthood, or not able to pay your rent or mortgage, Erie County is here to help you make ends meet. I urge everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and apply if you are in need. “

Childcare funding will be available to applicants through December 30th. Click here for more information on how to apply.
