Erie County Legislator Frank J. Todaro

Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently presented a proclamation to the President of the Polish American Congress of Western New York as well as one of the board members and national directors designating October 2020 as Polish American Heritage Month in Erie County.

The first Polish settlers arrived in Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. Polish Heritage Month was first established in 1984 when President Ronald Reagan urged all Americans to join in honoring Polish Heritage in America.  Legislator Todaro presented the proclamation to President of the Polish American Congress WNY Division Jim Lawicki and board member and national director Michael Zachowicz thanking them for their commitment to celebrating and promoting Polish heritage throughout Western New York.

Legislator Todaro said, “The Polish community in the history of our great nation has contributed a large amount of hard work, a deep commitment to community, faith and family values—all of which has helped shape the character of Western New York. Thank you to everyone in the Polish American community for all you have done and continue to do.”
