COMPTROLLER WARNS OF CORONAVIRUS TEST KIT SCAMS

Coronavirus testing kits are in short supply for government agencies and medical professionals conducting the tests here at home and around the world. That has resulted in some unscrupulous scam artists preying on those fears by offering fake kits for sale.  That is why Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw Jr., serving in his capacity as the “Taxpayer’s Watchdog,” is calling on consumers to not fall victim to those trying to rip off people by selling Coronavirus test kits.

(ERIE COUNTY, NY) –Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw is warning county lawmakers that the Coronavirus pandemic could have a devastating impact on county finances with a potentially drastic drop in sales tax revenue.

 

COMPTROLLER MYCHAJLIW; ERIE COUNTY HAS THE MONEY TO PURCHASE CORONAVIRUS TEST KITS

(ERIE COUNTY, NY) – With Erie County facing a catastrophic shortage of Coronavirus test kits and potentially facing massive deficits in the near future because of an anticipated drop in sales tax revenue, Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw is calling on the Erie County Legislature to use money saved in his office re-organization plan to be used for the purchase of more test kits for the elderly.

Erie County Comptroller Stefan Iwan Mychajliw is the son of Polish and Ukrainian immigrants, the youngest of seven children, who grew up in blue-collar beginnings near the corner of William and Fillmore on the East Side of Buffalo.

If you are, or work for, a County Clerk in New York State and you suspect that a person who is in the United States illegally has applied for a driver’s license, you can anonymously report it to ICE by calling their hotline at 1-866-347-2423 or electronically on their website. OR, utilize our Erie County hotline, and we will forward all tips.

 

 

The Erie County Comptroller’s Office is monitoring expenses related to the Covid-19 pandemic and how your tax dollars are being spent. Whether it is local tax dollars from the county surplus or federal funds, your taxes are being used to cover costs associated with the county-wide response to the COVID-19 public health crisis. You have a right to know how this money is spent.
