GET READY FOR THE GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OUT ON NOVEMBER 21
Erie County Department of Health marks annual event with support for current smokers and vapers to begin a smoke-free lifestyle
ERIE COUNTY, NY – The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) is offering an array of support and materials to help current smokers and those who use vaping products and e-cigarettes begin their journey to a tobacco- and nicotine-free life.
From November 16 to November 26, ECDOH will provide free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products such as patches, lozenges as long as supplies last. These supplies are provided by Tobacco Free Erie-Niagara, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute and the NYS Smokers’ Quitline. This offer is for adults ages 18 and older.
Call (716) 858-2962 and let our community education staff know that you would like to begin your journey toward a healthy, smoke-free and nicotine-free life.
“Smoking, nicotine use and tobacco use are responsible for chronic health conditions that have a negative impact on quality of life, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified smoking as a risk factor for COVID-19 complications,” said Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein. “Our community outreach team is available to support Erie County residents who are ready to take steps to stop or reduce their tobacco use.”
After a brief cessation consultation by phone or video conference, and quick screening to assess your ability to safely use NRT, ECDOH will coordinate how to deliver the smoking cessation materials, and options for further support to stay on course to a healthy, smoke-free life.
