Erie County Legislator John Mills joined Senator Chris Jacobs, Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello, Legislator Lynne Dixon, the ‘Citizens Against Wind Turbines’ group, and other community members at a ‘defend our lake’ rally in Irving Sunday morning.

Those in attendance voiced their opposition to a potential plan to install up to 50 wind turbines in Lake Erie. Speakers addressed environmental, public safety, and economic reasons for opposing the wind turbines.

Legislator Mills said, “I would like to thank all who continue to voice their concerns with this plan. Protecting our fresh drinking water and environmental assets remains a top priority of mine and are among the many reasons I oppose this project. We must send a strong message that wind turbines do not belong in our lake.”

Legislator Dixon said, “It’s important we protect one of our largest natural resources which is why I remain strongly opposed to any plan that would put wind turbines in Lake Erie. I appreciate the residents and elected officials who continue to voice concerns.”
