The Fire Fighter Newspaper was created in 1990 as the volunteer fire service's answer to county government towards a long-term solution to the recruitment and retention issue in our community.

Now in its thirteenth year of publication, 15,000 copies of The Fire Fighter Newspaper are printed and distributed each quarter. Unlike any other fire service publication in the nation, the target audience for The Fire Fighter is the public - not the fire service. Reported, compiled, edited, and published by an all-volunteer staff, this newspaper is designed to promote the positive virtues of the volunteer fire and emergency services community in Erie County. The publication is recognized across the country and around the globe.

Erie County Emergency Services is proud to support the staff and efforts of The Fire Fighter Newspaper and to host their organization at the Cheektowaga Emergency Services Training & Operations Center.
