Due to the Covid-19 Virus Emergency, the Town Board meeting scheduled for this evening has been CANCELED.

A State of Emergency is herewith declared in the Town of Alden, County of Erie, State of New York, for a period beginning at 9:00am on the date of March 20, 2020 and continuing in effect for a period of time not to exceed, thirty {30} days and ending at 9:00am on April 18, 2020.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions produced by:

Public Health crisis caused by the Coronavirus Disease {Covid-19}

Such conditions threaten or imperil the public safety of the residents and businesses in the Town of Alden.

As the Supervisor of the Town of Alden, I Dean Adamski exercise the authority given me under Article 2-B of the New York State Executive law, to preserve the public safety and render all required and available assistance vital to the security, wellbeing and health of the citizens of the community.

I hereby direct all departments and agencies in the Town of Alden to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and other such emergency assistance as deemed necessary.

Covid-19 Advisory

Town of Alden Supervisor Dean Adamski, has issued a State of Emergency for the Town of Alden in accordance with orders issued by Governor Cuomo. Effective Friday, March 20,2020 the Alden Town Hall will be Closed to the public until further notice. If necessary, appointments can be made by calling the numbers listed below. Under this State of Emergency, staffing in all Town Departments has been reduced by 75%. The following services are limited or curtailed.


Town HallClosed to the public, entry by appointment for emergency cases only. To make an appointment call 716-937-6969 and leave a message. Appropriate personnel will return your call.


  • Town Clerk Office: call for an appointment. 716-937-6969 ext 2Town Court: closed until further noticeTown Court: canceled until further notice
    • Death certificates will be issued by calling 716-572-3375.
    • Tax payments may be made by mail
    • Dog licenses expiring during March or April have been extended until May 31, 2020
    • Handicap Parking Permits – call the office and one will be mailed to you
  • Town Court: closed until further notice
  • Town Building Department: by appointment only. For inspections call 716-937-6969 ext 4
  • Town Assessor : by appointment only, 716-937-6969 ext 7
  • Town Highway: Brush pickup and Ditching projects have been suspended. In cases of emergency call 716-937-7336 or 572-3375.
  • Recreation Department: all programs canceled
  • Public Meetings: Canceled- Planning Board and Zoning Board and Town Board to be determined as of yet.
  • Community Center: all activities canceled, including Senior lunches.
  • Town Parks:  All parks are OPEN, public is reminded to practice social distancing.

Covid-19 Advisory - March 17, 2020

In response to the current ever-evolving Covid-19 (coronavirus) crisis at hand, the Town Of Alden has suspended all activities at the Community Center and all inside sports activities at the Town Hall. We will be closely monitoring and re-evaluating when it will be safe to allow activities at these locations to resume.

At this time we will be continuing our Senior Van Service for critical services only.

The Alden Town Courts will not be in session for the month of March and the courts are working to send out notices of adjournment to all applicable persons.

The Town Hall will remain open with limited staffing, for all critical services. As always, please call the Town Hall with any issues or hardships that you may need assistance with during these trying times.

In this time of uncertainty it is important for us as a community, to work together and support each other. Please be cognizant of your friends and neighbors, particularly the elderly and those more susceptible to sickness.

Credit Card Tax Payments

Credit Cards Now Accepted for Property Taxes The Town of Alden Clerk/Receiver, is now accepting credit card payments for property taxes. Payments will be accepted until the tax warrant is closed and sent to Erie County. Partial payments are accepted. A processing fee will be added to your tax payment by the financial institution; all fees are assessed by the banking institution and are retained in total by the banking institution.

2020 Tentative Budget

2020 Tentative Budget has been filed with the Alden Town Clerk. There will be a public hearing on the Preliminary Budget on October 21, 2019. The Town Board is scheduled a budget for 2020 on November 4, 2019.

Erie County Water Shed

The Lake Erie Watershed Protection Alliance is a three-county (Erie, Cattaraugus, & Chautauqua) organization working to protect water quality in the area draining into Lake Erie and the Niagara River. The brochures purpose is to inform residents on how to properly manage yard waste by not dumping it into local waterways and keeping off streets to prevent nutrient pollution to our waterways.
