Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw sent a letter to DPW Commissioner William Geary concerning dangerous road conditions on Lake Shore Road near Wendt Road in the Town of Evans.

A member of the Comptroller's Audit Team discovered the issue while driving along the roadway. Upon further inspection, it was found the roadway had a 7 inch drop-off from the pavement to the shoulder of the road. Best practice recommends only a two-inch drop off.  This extensive drop exceeds traffic safety recommendations. In addition, the angle of the drop off is also almost double that of safety recommendations.

Concerned that drivers may be at risk, Comptroller Mychajliw immediately brought this issue to the attention of DPW, requesting repairs be made as quickly as possible to remedy the issue.
