Honorable James M. Shaw
Town of Hamburg Supervisor
6100 South Park Avenue
Hamburg, NY 14075
Dear Supervisor Shaw:
The dark and disgraceful days of Andrew Cuomo leading our state are over. Thankfully, they are behind us. Leaders look ahead and forward, never behind. What is before us right now is a new opportunity to work collaboratively with former Hamburg Town Board member and our new Governor, Kathy Hochul, to finally Save Our Skyway.
We have a tremendous opportunity before us to show taxpayers that Democrats, Republicans and Conservatives can and will work together for the common good to stop all ill-advised plans to tear down the Skyway. Under former Governor Cuomo’s watch previous plans to remove the Skyway were put “on pause.” Governor Kathy Hochul has the chance to stand up for the Town she once called home to finally change the Skyway destruction plans from “on pause” to “unequivocally dead.”
That is why I wrote to Governor Hochul on Thursday, August 12th, 2021, asking her to publicly proclaim a position strongly against removal of the Skyway.
The Hamburg Town Board technically worked in a tri-partisan manner on June 7th, 2021, when one Republican, one Conservative and three Democrats voted unanimously to Save Our Skyway. I’m asking you once again to work in this collaborative spirit to send a joint letter to our new Governor, like my correspondence, asking Governor Hochul to end all plans to remove our Skyway.
If you are so inclined to work together one more time to Save Our Skyway and have all four Town Board members sign a joint letter, you can pass a resolution at your August 23rd, 2021, meeting and have certified copies sent to Governor Hochul, New York State Senators Tim Kennedy and Sean Ryan, along with New York State Assemblymembers Patrick Burke and Jonathan Rivera. Thank you for the consideration.
Sincerely,
Hon. Stefan Mychajliw
