Southside Trailer Service, Inc. is a family-based Blasdell business with a total of four locations in New York State and Pennsylvania
(BUFFALO) – Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw continues business tours across Erie County by visiting Blasdell based Southside Trailer Service, Inc. The family-owned business has been in operation since 1974. The second and third generations of the Coder family sell new and used tractor trailers. They also have an extensive service and repair operation. Started in 1974, Southside Trailer Service, Inc. has four locations in New York State and Pennsylvania.
The business was strategically located in the Southtowns to help repair and maintain the estimated 500 trucks constantly streaming in and out of Bethlehem Steel on a daily basis. When the plant started ceasing operations, Southside Trailer Service transitioned to the sale of new and used tractor trailers, while still operating their repair shop.
“It is great to see a family-based business in the Southtowns that cares deeply about their associates, their company and our community. Skip and Melissa want the best for their business, for Blasdell and the dedicated folks that work with them. It was nice to tour their quite impressive facility,” said Comptroller Mychajliw.
Consistently ranking in Buffalo Business First’s “Top 100 Private Companies,” Southside Trailer Service Inc. sells and repairs a wide range of trucks and trailers, including:
- Refrigerated trucks
- Flatbed trailers
- Construction trailers
- Small and medium trailers
- Dump trailers, open trailers, and closed trailers
- Snowplows
- Storage trailers
Their 39-full time employees are not called “workers” around the office, they’re referred to as associates. One associate recently celebrated his 47th year with the company. Current owner Floyd “Skip” Coder runs the family business with his daughter Melissa, who has been an associate with Southside Trailer Service Inc. for 19 years.
