Frozen Fun Includes Sledding, Skiing, Snowboarding; Toboggan Runs Open This Weekend at Chestnut Ridge

ERIE COUNTY, NY— Today, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz encouraged residents to head for the nearest County park to take advantage of wintertime recreational activities. Following recent snows, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy sledding, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. This weekend also marks the opening of the toboggan runs at Chestnut Ridge Park, which will be open Fridays from 4-8pm and weekends/holidays from 10am-4pm.

“Erie County parks have a lot to offer in the wintertime, and I encourage everyone to get outside and have some fun in the great outdoors,” said Poloncarz. “There are nine County parks with some type of winter recreation available, including free downhill skiing at Emery Park, so there’s something for everyone. Sleds, snowboards, snowshoes, and toboggans should all see a lot of use while this great winter weather lasts, and we look forward to seeing lots of people and families enjoying our parks.”
