4th Grade Students in Mrs. Kwiatkowski’s Class sent Cards of Thanks, Support after November Storm

ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz joined students in Mrs. Heather Kwiatkowski’s 4th-grade class at Martin Road elementary school recently to thank them for the cards and notes of support they sent to him following the November Storm. The class composed and sent twenty colorful individual greetings to the County Executive, who displayed the cards in his office prior to visiting the school and giving each of the students an art kit to show his appreciation for their kind words.

The art kits are being distributed countywide as part of an ongoing collaboration between Erie County and the Albright Knox Art Gallery.

Poloncarz said, “It was a pleasure both to get the cards from Mrs. Kwiatkowski’s class and then to visit them to thank them in person. It meant a lot to me to receive such nice cards from the next generation of students from my hometown of Lackawanna. Their colorful creations were wonderful, and I thought art kits would be a nice way to say ‘thanks’ while giving them another artistic outlet.”

Mrs. Heather Kwiatkowski added, “Mrs. Andreozzi, my students, and I were honored and thrilled that County Executive Poloncarz was able to take time out of his busy schedule to not only meet us, but allow us to learn about his role in local government.  This was a wonderful lesson for my students in that the County Executive is a hometown hero.  We would like to thank him for a truly memorable experience and wish him continued success."
