ERIE COUNTY, NY—Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has scheduled a public hearing in regard to Local Law Intro. No.8-2 (2015), a local law prohibiting the sale of personal cosmetic products containing microbeads in Erie County. Microbeads, a synthetic alternative to natural materials such as pumice and ground almonds, are found in over 100 personal cosmetic products and pose a serious threat to Erie County’s environment by increasing water pollution and subsequent harm to aquatic life. The public hearing will allow individuals to voice their concerns about Local Law 8-2.
