Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Troy P. Schinzel recently joined an enthusiastic group of Junior Park Rangers at the Chestnut Ridge Park casino to present them with medals and certificates for participating in the 2021 Junior Park Ranger program. The Junior Park Ranger program encourages park lovers of all ages to explore the 10,000 acres of the Erie County Parks system and locate codes found in parks countywide. The Junior Rangers visited every Erie County park this year, recording their experiences and park codes in their Parks Passport.

“With 10,000 acres to explore and enjoy, Erie County parks present ample opportunities to get back to nature and appreciate the outdoors. These Junior Park Rangers took full advantage of those opportunities and we congratulate them on their efforts,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “We continue to invest millions of dollars in our parks infrastructure and host programs like the Junior Rangers, Live Well Erie Wellness Walks, and other park offerings in order to give residents the parks’ experiences they expect and deserve.”

Participating Junior Park Rangers and their families enjoyed light refreshments at the Chestnut Ridge Park Casino prior to receiving their awards.  Erie County Park Rangers were pleased to present recognition to the Bartlett family of Depew, the Mitchell family of Orchard Park, and the Setter and Militello families of Hamburg for their participation.
