The Erie County Department of Social Services’ (“ECDSS”) Running Group has announced that it will be participating in the 2018 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, thanks to funding support received from the Labor Management Healthcare Fund (“LMHF”). As part of the Corporate Challenge, 66 ECDSS staff are either running or walking and will be accompanied at the Thursday, June 14 event by volunteers coordinating refreshments and food for the Running Group at their tent. This year’s Corporate Challenge contingent is believed to be the largest group of Erie County staff to participate in the annual event.

“We have runners of all experience levels who are excited to be participating in this year’s J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge and have been training for months. Our Running Group was established for the purpose of promoting health, wellness, and running so it will be a good experience to run with other groups at this great annual event,” said Steven Dlugosz of the ECDSS Running Group. “We want to thank the Labor Management Healthcare Fund for their vital support of our efforts and for promoting wellness in our workforce. They made this possible for us and we look forward to running next Thursday.”

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a 3.5 mile run held in Delaware Park. Buffalo is one of seven U.S. cities to host the Challenge, along with Boston, Rochester, Syracuse, New York City, Chicago and San Francisco. Now in its 42nd year, the Corporate Challenge is also held in London, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney. In Buffalo, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy is the beneficiary of the annual event.
