The Erie County Department of Public Works (“DPW”) anticipates long-awaited road reconstruction work on Goodrich Road will begin soon as the department opened bids in mid-July for the $5.56 million reconstruction project and improvements to Goodrich from Black Creek to Tonawanda Creek Road in the Town of Clarence. Work on Goodrich Road will start once the current culvert replacement project on Salt Road at Delaware Road is completed, and will begin with the installation of a new culvert on Goodrich north of Sesh Road. Utility relocation work will take place this fall, and temporary pavement will be placed on the entire length of the Goodrich project to ensure the safety of the travelling public during the 2017-18 winter season.

The road will be closed to all but local traffic in the spring of 2018 and the remaining work will be completed by the contract completion date of August 2018. All of the ditches on Goodrich will be moved away from the road to allow for a wider shoulder and the majority of the ditches will be piped, except in the area of designated wetlands, where ditches will be rebuilt and remain open. The two-mile stretch of roadway will be excavated and replaced with new material and paved. Driveway approaches and disturbed lawn areas will be repaired and new guiderail and road striping will be applied.
