Today, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced that a tentative agreement on a new five-year contract has been reached between Erie County and AFSCME Local 1095. The tentative agreement, which AFSCME membership will vote on later this month, includes 2% raises each year from 2018 - 2021 and changes to wage progression increment steps. Among other highlights, expanded health care options for members and the addition of departmental seniority and shift preference are also included in the tentative agreement.
Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said, “I want to thank Commissioner of Labor Relations Steve Miller and his team along with the AFSCME Local 1095 team for working out a tentative agreement that respects labor and the taxpayers. A healthy dialogue and energetic discussions allowed both sides to find common ground and workable solutions and now the tentative agreement is in the hands of AFSCME membership.”
The proposed agreement covers the period between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2021. AFSCME Local 1095 represents approximately 1,500 employees at ECMCC, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, and Erie Community College along with approximately 530 Erie County employees.
