Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined by Commissioner of Senior Services Tim Hogues, members of the Erie County Senior Services department and staff from the Amherst Senior Center, and enthusiastic seniors on Valentine’s Day at the Center to honor Helen Machynski as “Senior of the Month” for February 2018. Mrs. Machynski got involved in volunteering at the Center in 2005 and completed 840 volunteer hours of service in 2017 alone. Helen works at the Center’s Hospitality Desk and is also involved in the knitting club, nutrition desk, Monday community service effort and more. She was honored as part of a Valentine’s Day celebration at the Center.
