Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz issued the following statement pursuant to today’s proposed amendments submitted for consideration to the Erie County Legislature in regards to the 2018 Erie County Budget proposed by the Poloncarz administration:
Poloncarz Statement: “Today, after numerous negotiation sessions with members of the Legislature and their representatives during the past week, I am proud to say we have reached an agreement on the final 2018 County Budget. The minor alterations submitted before the Legislature today involve the re-allocation of approximately $1.5 million out of the nearly $1.7 billion county budget, and if passed in full as presented today without any further amendment, will be signed into effect by me. I would like to thank the Legislature for the smooth, non-confrontational, businesslike deliberations they have conducted on the Proposed 2018 county budget and for the reasonable amendments they proposed as well. Roughly 90% of the Erie County budget is composed of state and federal mandates, so we actually only have a say in appropriating the remainder. The amendments submitted today are sensible and realistic changes to the proposed Budget, and I look forward to the Legislature’s vote on the total 2018 Proposed Budget later this week.”
