Thursday Sept. 28 event features 360 properties, along with 200 properties from prior auctions

ERIE COUNTY, NY- The Erie County Department of Real Property Tax Services has announced an upcoming tax foreclosure auction to be held this Thursday, September 28 with registration beginning at 8:30 AM at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. 360 new properties will be available to bid on at the event along with 200 properties returning from prior auctions.

"While these properties are going to auction, it is important to note that an additional 187 property tax owners who had been in arrears in their taxes were able to work out payment plans with Erie County in order to avoid having their properties placed on the auction list as well. We will always work with property owners who are making a good faith effort to return their properties to good standing but may have fallen on hard times or are facing difficulties," said Director of Real Property Tax Joseph Maciejewski. "Conversely, any scofflaw property owner who is working the system or is a serial bankruptcy filer should be on notice that their actions will not be tolerated and we will pursue them in court."

In addition to the 187 property owners who have entered payment agreements with Erie County, another $12.4 million in delinquent taxes has been collected from property owners seeking to avoid having their properties auctioned.
