County Executive joins Counterparts from WNY’s Eight Counties in Preparation for 56th Annual Armed Forces Week
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined today by Bill Callahan, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (Ret.) and Public Affairs Officer for the Western New York Armed Forces Committee, in order to affix his signature to a proclamation being prepared in advance of Armed Forces Week and honoring all United States veterans. Armed Forces Week 2016 will take place from May 1 – May 7 and will commence with an Opening Ceremony on Sunday, May 1 at Riverworks that is open to the public. The week concludes with the WNY Armed Forces Week Ball on Saturday, May 7 at the Connecticut Street Armory. Sponsored by the WNY Armed Forces Week Committee since 1960, the week is a tribute to the men and women of the armed forces and events this year are being hosted by the Committee’s Marine Corps members.
