Polaris Utility Vehicle, Yamaha ATV Stolen Sunday Night; Public Urged to Provide Any Information

ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has reported the theft of a new Polaris utility vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle from the Bureau of Forestry at Genesee Road and Warner Gulf Road in Sardinia. Thieves broke into a locked storage shed sometime Sunday night and stole the 2015 Polaris Ranger ATV and a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 450 QUAD.

“While this equipment is used by the Erie County Parks Department, this is a theft from the people of Erie County and it will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “It is discouraging that someone would steal machinery that is used to keep our parks and our park patrons safe, but we are working closely with the Erie County Sheriff’s office to apprehend the criminals. I urge anyone who might have knowledge of this crime to please contact the Erie County Sheriff’s office.”

The 2015 Polaris Ranger 570 ATV (VIN # 3NSRMA573H821907), valued at $12,000, is a sage green and black color with a poly sport roof, winch, and front & rear brush guards. The 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 450 QUAD (VIN # 5Y4AJ06YX4A016521), valued at $4,000, is a sage green color and has a winch.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 716-858-2903. A crime stoppers reward may be offered.
