All Erie County Auto Bureaus will observing the following Holidays: New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; President's Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Columbus Day; Election Day; Veterans' Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas.

Auto Bureau Offices are closed on the Saturday preceeding Monday holidays. 

The services provided at the Auto Bureau include:

  • Renewals for operator and motorcycle licenses, permits, and non-driver identification (ID) cards.
  • CDL renewals (except for Hazmat or towing endorsements)
  • Written tests for operators and motorcycle permits
  • Duplicates for all types of licenses, permits and non-driver ID cards
  • Amendments to all types of licenses, permits and non-driver ID cards
  • Conversion of out-of-state driver licenses to New York
  • Renewals of registrations
  • New plates for passenger and commercial vehicles, trailers and motorcycles
  • Duplicate plates for passenger and commercial vehicles, trailers and motorcycles
  • Amendment to registrations for all vehicle types
  • Plate transfers from one vehicle to another for all vehicle types
  • Plate surrenders
  • Enforcement matters including DWI, insurance lapses
