The Erie County Department of Senior Services will offer “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” classes beginning later this month designed to provide caregivers with the tools needed to take care of themselves.

The six weekly sessions, each 2 ½ hours in length, will teach caregivers how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate feelings, and locate helpful resources. Participants will also learn how to improve their ability to make difficult decisions and find balance in their lives.

“Caregivers often find themselves under heavy pressure from the demands placed on them by caring for a loved one, and they can feel frustrated and worn out,” said Commissioner of Senior Services Timothy Hogues. “These classes help caregivers to realize that they are not alone and that help and resources are available to them. I encourage anyone who is caring for a loved one to attend and find out more.”

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” classes will be offered at the following location, dates and times:

• Thursday January 19, 2017 – Thursday February 23, 2017; 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM, ECMC Campus Terrace View Long-Term Care Facility, 462 Grider St., Buffalo NY.

Pre-Registration is required. Please call 858-7096 or e-mail ryan.gadzo@erie.gov for more information.
