Peter Savage Honors Evelyn Vossler as the Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month

Buffalo, NY- At a legislative session held Thursday, June 26, 2014, Erie County Legislator Peter Savage recognized Evelyn Vossler as the Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month for June 2014.

“It is my great honor to recognize Evelyn Vossler for her tireless efforts on behalf of the Riverside and Black Rock communities,” said Legislator Savage. “Evelyn’s dedicated commitment to our community is an inspiration to us all, and is worthy of recognition.” 

Evelyn Vossler has been a community activist for over 20 years, dedicated to improving the lives of Riverside and Black Rock residents through her civic and church activities at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo.  Evelyn is president of Rediscover Riverside and treasurer of the Black Rock-Riverside Alliance.  She is the current co-chair of the Black Rock Riverside Good Neighbors Planning Alliance, serving as member for over ten years.

In receiving the award, Evelyn said, “I am very proud to accept this award on behalf of our neighborhood.  There are a lot of people working together to make our community a better place and we are seeing great progress as a result.”

Evelyn is an active member of the 21st Ward Association, Black Rock Historical Society, Spotlight Tonawanda Street and serves with her husband Jim as the City of Buffalo North District Housing Court Liaison.

Evelyn is the loving wife to her husband Jim, and also a devoted mother to Michael, loving stepmother to Ron, Brandi and Erik, proud grandmother of fourteen and great-grandmother of three.  Legislator Savage presented Evelyn with a signed proclamation at session, followed by a reception with her family, friends, and community leaders.
