The Erie County Legislature and members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart - Chapter 187 announced today that Erie County, NY has been designated as a Purple Heart County. Erie County joins municipalities across the country in making this designation to honor our heroes who sacrificed so much for our country. Representatives from the local chapter for the Military Order of the Purple Heart said permanent signs marking the designation are expected to be erected this summer.

The designation was marked with a proclamation signed by all 11 members of the Legislature.
