During last Thursday’s session, the Erie County Legislature named August 30th as ‘Tribute Day’ in recognition of the county’s retired seniors volunteer program.
Also known as ‘RSVP,’ the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program connects Erie County seniors with volunteer opportunities at schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other non-profit and public organizations.
“We are incredibly thankful for the contributions made by seniors through the county’s RSVP program,” said Legislator Lynne Dixon. “Their selfless service has made a lasting impact on dozens of organizations in Erie County.”
“RSVP volunteers make a difference in so many ways,” said Legislator Lorigo. “The success of the RSVP program would not be possible without the outstanding individuals who sacrifice their time to assist and improve organizations throughout the county.”
“Tribute Day is just one way to recognize the tremendous efforts of our county’s RSVP volunteers,” said Legislator Ed Rath. “Many of them have sacrificed countless hours to serve the public and help meet critical community needs.”
“The Department of Social Services’ RSVP program is one of Erie County’s most valuable programs,” said Legislator John Mills. “As a community, we are grateful for the work they do on a daily basis.”
