Legislature urges State to extend brownfield clean-up tax credit to support economic development

The Erie County Legislature has unanimously approved a resolution calling on the New York State Governor and Legislators to extend the Brownfield Clean-up Tax Incentives Program in support of regional business development. The program allows tax credits for companies that rehabilitate unused, contaminated industrial sites to create new business opportunities.

Chairman Mills, Majority Leader Lorigo reappointed at reorganizational meeting

The Erie County Legislature held its annual reorganizational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 and elected Legislator John Mills to his second term as Chairman. He was appointed unanimously (11-0) to the one-year term.

Legislature’s Majority Caucus looks to build on 2014’s successes

In its first year leading the Erie County Legislature, the Republican-aligned Majority brought long overdue reform. Led by Chairman John Mills and Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo, the Caucus capped the year by approving the 2015 Erie County budget unanimously and rather than holding the line on taxes as the County Executive proposed, delivered a tax rate decrease. It was the first time in several years a budget was adopted with support of the entire Legislature and the first tax decrease in a decade.

The Erie County Legislature has approved a resolution urging the United States Senate to take immediate action to approve the “Clay Hunt SAV Act,” which would provide servicemen and women better mental health care.

Legislators list HEAP outreach dates to assist residents in need

The Erie County Legislature announces that Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Outreaches will be held throughout the county to assistance residents in need this year. Attendees do not have to live in the specific town/village/city hosting the outreach to attend.
