Legislator Dixon honors Lackawanna’s Boys Soccer Team, 2016 Section VI – Class B2 champions, on historic season

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon honored the 2016 Lackawanna High School Boys Soccer Team for winning the 2016 Section VI – Class B2 championship, capping an outstanding season. This was the boys soccer team’s first Section VI title in school history. 

Legislator Dixon names hardworking Walk to End Alzheimer’s Team captain, members as Citizen of the Month

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announces that the October 2016 Citizen of the Month is Morgan Scheible, captain of Team Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg, which recently participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Under her leadership, Scheible’s team raised $2,810 to fight Alzheimer’s.  

October 2016 Column - ‘It Takes a Community’ – Addressing underage drinking

As the mother of four, I am well versed in the art of worry. I worry about my children every day, whether it is sports injuries, being bullied at school, or experimenting with alcohol. Their safety is always my number one concern. I have had many conversations with my children about underage drinking and I know firsthand that they don’t always want to listen, and more so, that one approach doesn’t work for every child.  I understand parents’ concerns but this is a conversation that all youth should be having with a parent or guardian.  

CO Detector Giveaway on Thursday, Sept. 15

The Amanda Hansen Foundation, New York State Assemblyman Michael Kearns and Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announce that thanks to the generosity of event sponsor Baillie Lumber, a total of 200 carbon monoxide detectors will be given away from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Lackawanna Senior Center, 230 Martin Road, Lackawanna.

Legislators Lorigo, Dixon meet with Cornell Cooperative Extension’s first Primetime interns

Erie County Legislators Joseph Lorigo and Lynne Dixon met with some of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County’s (CCE Erie) 4-H Youth Community Action Network (CAN) teen leader interns, who were the first to be supported by Erie County’s Primetime Funding Program, and found the experience was extremely successful.
