April 2013 Column - Students’ research provides look into possible future for downtown

I have the best staff of any Erie County legislator. This is because, in addition to my legislative aide, Susan Gregg, I have 15 of our community’s sharpest minds working for me. 

Canisius College students’ research shapes Erie County Legislature resolution

Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick, a professor at Canisius College, has utilized the information gathered by a team of Canisius College students from his Public Administration class to propose a resolution that calls for a 12-month land option on the NFTA’s property in the Buffalo Outer Harbor to allow the Greater Buffalo Sports and Entertainment Complex to explore the possibility of developing a downtown stadium. 

Valentines for Veterans recipients thank students for cards, encouraging messages

On March 21, Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick received a special email that capped a successful Valentines for Veterans program. U.S. Fifth Fleet Chaplain Mark Steiner wrote to Legislator Hardwick to express the gratitude of the servicemen and women who received valentines created by students attending schools in the City of Tonawanda, Grand Island and Town of Tonawanda. 

March 2013 Column - Tough Decisions Ahead

It is as simple as it is sobering.  A minus B equals C.  A is the cost of running county government.  B is all non-property tax revenue and C is the amount of money needed to be raised by property taxes.
