Route 240 to be repaired from Holland Glenwood to Foote Road - July 24 to mid-August

Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo and Chairman John Mills announce that Route 240 (Glenwood-East Concord) in the towns of Colden and Concord will be repaired from Holland Glenwood to Foote Road from Monday, July 24 until Friday, Aug. 11 (or when work is complete). Aurora Senior Center upgrades audiovisual equipment thanks to county investment

Erie County Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo toured the Aurora Senior Center recently with Director Donna Bodekor to see the improvements and upgrades made as a result of funding that Legislator Lorigo secured in the 2017 Erie County budget. With the money allocated ($2,000), the senior center purchased a new laptop, a projector, upgraded the sound system, and replaced outdated furniture in the library.  The audiovisual equipment will be used for presentations, classes, and a variety of events planned at the Center.

Majority Leader Lorigo introduces law requiring that all dental prosthetics be disclosed with their country of origin

Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo has introduced a law requiring the disclosure of the country of origin for any and all dental prosthetics placed into a patient’s mouth in Erie County. The law applies both to manufacturers of dental Prosthetic devices operating in Erie County as well as dentists and others who might be handling the final placement and implantation. The law was announced at a press conference held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Evolution Dental Science Dental laboratory along with Andy Jakson, CEO of Evolution Dental; Dr. Ronald Jarvis, DDS, MSD;     Joe Procopio, President of Pro-Esthetics Dental Lab; and Dr. Ian Walker DDS.

Portion of Eastwood Road closed July 10-21

Road closure announcement: Eastwood Road in the Town of Marilla will be closed between Williston Road and Bullis Road as crews replace a cross culvert. District Outreach Meeting to be held June 29 at Aurora Town Hall

Erie County Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo will host a District Outreach Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 29 at Aurora Town Hall, Southside Municipal Center, 300 Gleed Ave., East Aurora to meet with residents and discuss county issues and concerns.

June 2017 Column - Outreaches come in many forms to bring county government closer to residents

Since becoming a Legislator, I have hosted community outreach meetings in various formats. Some events end up with just one person stopping by, and others have included dozens of residents and multiple hour discussions. At these outreaches, I try and keep the topics to County issues, but inevitably we end up discussing state and other issues. It really doesn’t matter what we talk about; the important take away is that a dialogue with residents has been created.

Health Department to offer Concussion Training for Supervisors of Youth Contact Sports

Last year the Legislature passed a law requiring that one trained supervisor be present at all youth contact sports events to help identify concussion related symptoms among youth athletes. This is becoming a growing problem in youth sports and this training helps ensures parents that their children are properly supervised and a safe environment is created for young athletes. These courses are offered free by Erie County. 

Legislator Lorigo to host Satellite Hours at West Seneca Senior Center’s Summer Kick Off Party

Erie County Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo will host Satellite Office Hours during the annual West Seneca Senior Center Summer Kick Off Party at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at the Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St. in West Seneca, to meet with residents to discuss county issues and concerns.
