Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon visited classrooms at Lorraine Academy Friday morning to read Dr. Seuss books to students as part of Read Across America Day.
Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Legislator Dixon joined classrooms to read Dr. Seuss’ ‘Please Try to Remember the First of Octember’ and ‘Clifford’ by Norman Bridwell.
Legislator Dixon said, “Thank you to the students and teachers at Lorraine Academy for inviting me to participate in Read Across America Day! We even got to enjoy a visit from the Cat in the Hat and have some green eggs and ham. It’s great to see so many schools participating in this annual tradition to encourage reading and celebrate Dr. Seuss.”
