Legislator Dixon secures funding for number of community organizations in 2019 budget

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon is proud to announce she has secured additional funding for a variety of community groups and organizations as part of the county’s 2019 budget. 

Funding was secured for the following groups: 

  • South Buffalo Irish Feis/Can You Dig It, Inc. - $13,000
  • Village of Hamburg Youth and Recreation - $3,000
  • Valley Community Association - $3,000
  • Village of Blasdell Youth and Recreation - $3,000
  • Lackawanna Youth and Recreation - $2,000
  • Enlightenment Literary Arts Center/Dog Ears - $8,243
  • Access of WNY - $3,000
  • Town of Hamburg Community Development - $3,000
  • Hamburg National Historical Society / Penn Dixie - $96,314
  • Hamburg Youth Court - $2,000
  • Hamburg Drug Free Coalition - $2,000
  • South Buffalo Senior Center (at Tosh Collins) - $1,000
  • Lackawanna Senior Center - $2,000
  • Hamburg Senior Center - $2,000
  • WNY United - $5,000
  • Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo - $28,000
  • Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens - $114,846

Legislator Dixon said, “I’m proud to support funding for these incredible organizations year after year. Each of these groups plays a vital role in serving the community, from keeping our youth active to offering countless educational resources and programs. We appreciate all of the great work they do!”

Dave Swarts, President and CEO of the Botanical Gardens said, “The Buffalo Botanical Gardens is extremely grateful to County Legislator Lynne Dixon for her efforts to secure additional funding during the 2019 budget process. These funds will be used to ensure that our collection and educational programming continue to provide exciting and stimulating opportunities for County residents.”

Elizabeth Schiavoni, Penn Dixie Development and Marketing Officer said, “We are thankful for Lynne Dixon's hard work representing the interests of Erie County residents by supporting continued increases in cultural funding for organizations like Penn Dixie Fossil Park and Nature Reserve. It is wonderful to see the Legislature's pride in maintaining and expanding unique local treasures in education and recreation for all ages. We can welcome visitors from around the world, to the most accessible fossil park in the United States, and introduce them to everything Erie County has to offer, due to a strong community of cultural organizations made possible by legislators like Lynne Dixon.”
