At Thursday’s session of the Legislature, Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon voted in favor of a resolution supporting members of the United Auto Workers who have been on strike since September 16.
Legislator Dixon visited the GM Powertrain Plant in Tonawanda twice since the strike began to meet with workers and extend her support.
Legislator Dixon said, “These men and women work hard and deserve better wages, benefits, and working conditions. It was important to me to spend some time with striking employees at the Tonawanda Plant to talk to them about the plight of temporary workers as well as the impact the strike has had on their families. Hopefully, UAW representatives and GM can soon reach a deal so these employees can receive the workplace improvements they are fighting for.”
