After joining students from schools throughout the district to make cards, Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo delivered over 1,000 valentines to local senior centers this week.

Each valentine was handmade by students from Clinton Street Elementary, Allendale Elementary, Queen of Heaven, West Seneca East Middle School, West Seneca West Middle School, West Seneca Christian School, and Aurora Waldorf School.

Legislator Lorigo said, Thank you to each of the students who took the time to make cards with thoughtful messages for our seniors. Because of their kind words, we were able to brighten many days and put smiles on a lot of faces. I enjoyed delivering the valentines and seeing how much they were appreciated.”

Valentines were delivered to the East Aurora Senior Center, West Seneca Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and other assisted living homes in the community.

Donna Bodekor, Director of the East Aurora Senor Center said, “We would like to extend our thanks to all the students who made the Valentine’s cards. Everyone enjoyed the notes inside the cards.”

Anne McKenna, Meals on Wheels Chief Communications Officer said, “Small tokens of kindness, like these Valentines, bring so much joy to our clients.  Many are homebound and live alone and being remembered on Valentine’s Day is extremely meaningful for them.”
