Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo recently welcomed Rosie’s Handcrafted Ice Cream to Main Street in East Aurora. Legislator Lorigo presented owners Deacon and Cassie Tasker with a proclamation to mark the occasion. The ice cream shop is named after Deacon and Cassie’s eldest daughter and was originally supposed to open in 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rosie’s Handcrafted Ice Cream serves 24 handcrafted ice cream flavors, including five dairy-free options in the forms of sorbets and oat-based ice creams, along with shakes, house-made sodas, novelties and rotating specials that will reflect the seasons and community events.
Deacon and Cassie did their homework—literally—to prepare for the opening. The pair went to ice cream school at Penn State’s Department of Food Science, as well as Scoop School in St. Louis, Missouri. The Taskers have help from production manager and pastry chef Ashley Tupper who lends a helping hand in the ice cream kitchen.
Legislator Lorigo said, “I wish nothing but sweet success to Deacon and Cassie Tasker! East Aurora is lucky to be home to Rosie’s Handcrafted Ice Cream which is already a fan favorite in just the few short months they’ve been around!”
