Erie County Legislator John Mills recently presented a proclamation to the Gowanda Ambulance Service as it celebrates nearly 60 years of operation, along with the opening of a new corporation building on Aldrich Street in the Village of Gowanda.

Founded back in 1961 as a volunteer organization, the Gowanda Ambulance Service is now an employer with 34 EMTs and paramedics. These first responders are trained with life-saving programs—including first-aid, CPR, AED, pediatric advanced life support, and advanced cardiac life support.

Patricia Volk, board president, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Gowanda Ambulance Service.

Legislator Mills said, “Thank you to all first responders who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. These paramedics choose to serve their communities unselfishly every time they show up to work. This facility will help the EMTs and paramedics to provide quality service to the Town of Collins, Dayton, Persia, Perrysburg, and the Village of Gowanda.”
