Erie County Legislator John Mills has donated 700 dollar checks to the Orchard Park, Angola, Boston, Town of Collins, North Collins, Eden, and Concord Public Libraries. Legislator Mills also donated 21 pounds of hotdogs to the Town of Collins, North Collins, Eden, Angola and Boston libraries to support their annual fundraisers.
In recent weeks, Legislator Mills has stopped by each library to present individual checks to board members and thank them for their service to the community.
Legislator Mills said, “Our libraries provide invaluable resources to the community and are enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether it’s through encouraging reading, offering educational programs or family-friendly activities, libraries serve us in countless ways. These donations are just one way to express our appreciation for everything they do. I thank the directors and board members of each of these libraries for all of their hard work, and I am proud to lend my continued support.”
Lydia Herren, Director of the Boston Free Library said, “Legislator John Mills’ long standing commitment to libraries has been invaluable to the Boston Free Library through his many fundraisers and donations throughout the years. These funds are used for community events with a special focus on children’s programming as well as a variety of necessary upkeep on the historic building."
Peggy Errington, Orchard Park Public Library Director said, “STEM and maker space programs at the Orchard Park Library were very well attended this summer and we anticipate using these funds to augment science based programming. In response to trends in services for children and teens, we plan to implement “Game Changer” programs designed for young gaming enthusiasts, and continue the success of pop-culture themed Escape Rooms. We hope to attract new library users and highlight the library as a vibrant community space for all ages. We very much appreciate all of Legislator Mills efforts on behalf of the Orchard Park Public Library, as well as for all of the libraries in his district. He has consistently demonstrated his support for libraries and the important role they play within their communities.”
