Erie County Legislator Ed Rath recently presented a proclamation to Buffalo’s Best Batman, William Lorenz Jr., to thank him for his charitable work throughout the community.

William Lorenz Jr. has volunteered across Western New York for more than 6 years, attending charity events and lifting spirits in costume as ‘Buffalo’s Best Batman.’ Lorenz Jr. earned the title from the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library in 2014, and he continues to give back even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteering at mobile food pantries or food drives and participating in socially-distant birthday parades are just a few ways he has helped the community during a challenging time. In July, Legislator Rath presented a proclamation to Lorenz Jr. at a food drive where he volunteered for the Salvation Army of Western New York.

Legislator Rath said, “William Lorenz Jr. is a real-life superhero, and our community is grateful for his kindness and generosity. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a difficult time and William has stepped up to lift spirits and bring smiles to many faces. This proclamation is a way for us to say thank you for all he has done. ‘Buffalo’s Best Batman’ is truly an example of why we are known as the ‘City of Good Neighbors!”
