Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro stood outside the Rivera home in Lancaster Saturday morning to honor and remember Jose Rivera who recently passed away as a result of COVID-19. Legislator Todaro presented a proclamation to Rivera’s wife, Maureen, as friends and family safely gathered around the street. Legislator Jeanne Vinal, a friend of the Rivera family, was also in attendance.
Jose Rivera attended South Park High School and served in the Navy. He was involved in many community projects, including Habitat for Humanity. Jose is remembered as someone who was always willing to help others, and leaves behind his wife, six children, and 11 grandchildren.
Legislator Todaro said, “Jose Rivera will be deeply missed by his family and the community he cared greatly for. He left an impact on many people and will be remembered for his kindness toward others. I thank Maureen and Jose’s friends and family for welcoming us to present a proclamation in his memory. I send my condolences and will be keeping them in my thoughts and prayers.”
