Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently recognized Matthew’s Table Community Dinner in Depew. Matthew’s Table Community Dinner is a monthly dinner served every fourth Tuesday of the month where Lord of Life Lutheran Church members and friends prepare hot meals for individuals in need at no charge. Matthew’s Table has been cooking up warm meals since April of 2017 and serves an average of 150 people at each dinner. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, these dinners have been drive-thru to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Legislator Todaro presented Pastor Deborah L. Turley with a proclamation to honor the church and its volunteers for their generosity and continued dedication to the Village of Depew.  The majority of the cost of dinners is covered by the church’s budget, which comes from donations by church members and the community.

Legislator Todaro said, “Thank you to everyone who is involved with Matthew’s Table Community Dinner. They have been serving those in need by providing them with a hot meal since April 2017. Each month, they feed on average 150 people at each dinner. This is all made possible because of volunteers who care about the community and the people in it. I am so honored to have met such wonderful individuals who have had such an impact on the Village of Depew.”

Lord of Life Lutheran Church Pastor Turley said, “I am so proud of the volunteers because they have been so good at making sure everyone feels welcome and as a result trust has been built within the community, relationships have been formed and the church has learned about some of the invisible needs within the community.”
