Last Thursday, the Erie County Legislature approved allocating $5,000 in asset forfeiture funding to Buffalo Crime Stoppers. The money will be used for paying rewards for specific qualifying tips relating to felony crimes.

Crime Stoppers Buffalo serves Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.  Crime Stoppers assists law enforcement agencies in their efforts to apprehend wanted individuals and getting tips on older unsolved crimes. Crime Stoppers regularly pays out reward money for information leading to arrests.

Legislator Ed Rath said, “I have always been a proud supporter of Crime Stoppers and their tireless efforts to improve public safety. Their organization plays a critical role in keeping dangerous individuals and drug dealers off of our streets. This is an invaluable community resource deserving of our continued support.”

Legislator Lynne Dixon said, “Through tips, Crime Stoppers has helped law enforcement solve countless cases over the years. I’m happy to support additional funding to help them continue that trend.”
