Erie County Legislator Ed Rath has submitted a proclamation to observe Saturday, September 26 as Hunting and Fishing day in Erie County. Residents are encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy what nature has to offer or participate in volunteer efforts to help clean up the environment.
Legislator Rath said, “There are so many opportunities for hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation in Erie County and all of Western New York. I hope residents will take time to get outside and enjoy our natural resources. While you’re out, I encourage you to take some time to participate in environmental cleanup efforts. Any little bit of help goes a long way! I’d also like to thank the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs and all other area sportsmen’s clubs for everything they do to support environmental conservation.”
Jeff Jondle, President of Erie County Federation of Sportsmen's Club said, "On behalf of our county's forty organized sportsmen and women’s clubs and more than 10,000 members, we ask you to go out and enjoy all that the changing seasons offer. And while you and your families are out there: fishing, hiking, scouting, sighting in, kayaking or canoeing, please bring along a plastic trash bag and help cleanup those well used sites of any refuse, discarded fishing line, etc. carelessly left by the less respectful and leave the area looking better for the next guests to enjoy. Give a hoot don’t pollute!"
