Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently voted during the Legislature’s Finance & Management committee meeting to enter into a contract with CBRE-Buffalo to sell the Home as well as the property.

The main building is 650,000 square feet—the entire site totals 152-acres. In 2019 a “for sale” sign was posted on the property and, as a result, several interested developers inquired but no deal was reached without a proper broker.

CBRE Buffalo’s proposed fee is six percent of the total purchase price but no less than $65,000 if sold. Although vacant, the County is still financially responsible for the maintenance of the property.

Legislator Todaro said, “This property has sat vacant for far too many years causing the County to shell out an absurd amount of money on maintenance and not only that, but we are also missing out on tax revenue for both the County and the Town of Alden.  Approving this contract was an incredibly important step in getting this property off of our hands.”

Legislator Todaro plans on tour the Erie County Home in the near future.
