Legislator Frank Todaro recently honored Josie’s on Central with a proclamation for being a trusted, community-focused and valued small business in Erie County. Josie’s on Central is located at 36 Central Avenue in Lancaster’s Central Avenue Historic District with the storefront maintaining its original tin ceiling and transom window to add to the store’s character.

Josie’s on Central was established in 2018 and, before opening in September 2019, completed a nine-month renovation to create a storefront that offers a unique shopping experience for women. The store specializes in women’s clothing lines, accessories and a section of fine soaps, lotions, candles and beauty supplies. Josie’s on Central is also active in hosting shopping events including Mom’s Night Out, onsite make-up artists and end of season sales.

Owner Josie Sonberg takes the time and effort to get to know her customers on a first-name basis and strives to provide excellent customer service by paying close attention to all of her customer’s specific needs. When Ms. Sonberg learned of a seven-year-old girl named Autumn who received a sewing machine as a Christmas gift and was making scrunchies, Josie offered to sell them at her store. Autumn, in-turn, donated the proceeds to the Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.

Josie goes above and beyond for every person who walks through her doors. She is also the first to lend a helping hand to whoever needs it and helps others succeed in business as well.
