County Clerk to Hold Outreach Events Prior to Scheduled Fee Increase

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns announced that his office will be conducting “Passports on the Move” outreach events at the AAA Travel and Insurance Centers in Amherst and Orchard Park.  The events will be held on the following dates: March 20th from 11am-1pm and March 27th from 5pm-7pm at the AAA Travel and Insurance Center located at 100 International Drive in Amherst and March 22nd from 11am-1pm and March 29th from 5pm-7pm at the AAA Travel and Insurance Center located at 3475 Amelia Drive in Orchard Park.

Reservations are required and can be made by contacting the County Clerk’s Office at (716) 858-8866. This community event is for first-time passport applicants only. These outreaches are open to anyone in the public who schedules an appointment. Applicants do not have to be AAA members to attend the outreach.

Applicants will be able to apply for a passport card, passport book or both. Payment must be in the form of check or money order. No cash or credit cards will be accepted. The March “Passports on the Move” outreaches will come just before fees from Passport Applications increase in April, 2018.

“I encourage anyone planning an upcoming vacation or college students preparing for a semester abroad to schedule an appointment for our ‘Passports on the Move’ event,” said Kearns. “You will also avoid the $10 fee increase that is set to begin in April.”

A certified copy of birth certificate and proof of identity such as a current New York State driver’s license or non-driver identification card is required in order for any application to be accepted. Passport photos can be taken on-site and are available for $8.95 for AAA members and $12.95 for non-members. For minors under the age of 16 who may be applying both parents need to be present.

Passport applications, a list of all required documents and a schedule of fees is available by visiting www.erie.gov/passports or by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Office at (716) 858-8866.
