Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns announced that per Executive Order the Governor has extended the expiration dates on all New York State driver licenses and permits for those that expired on or after March 1, 2020.

Motorists will now have until February 26, 2021 to renew either document which includes all classes of licenses. However, this extension does not pertain to non-driver identification cards or vehicle registrations which needed to be renewed by November 3, 2020.

“I am pleased to say that our offices are accepting same day or next day appointments for motorists needing to renew local,” stated Kearns. “Our office also provides FREE eye exams to motorists who require one upon renewing their license.”

Anyone needing to renew their driver license or permit may do so by scheduling an in-person appointment online by calling 716-858-8864 or online at www.erie.gov/clerk/autobureau.
